The Role

This is an exciting time to join Richmond and Wandsworth Councils as we continue to embed the most significant change in our homelessness duties with the Homelessness Reduction Act 2017.

We are currently looking to recruit a capable and ambitious individual to join our service on a fixed term contract until 31st March 2023.

We are looking for someone who will be a team player, who is articulate, organised and able to work under pressure delivering first class housing assessment and homelessness solutions services.

In this role, you will not only be assessing homeless applications but also looking for innovative opportunities to prevent homelessness. You will also be making decisions in accordance with the new provisions of the Homelessness Reduction Act 2017.

You will of course need to have knowledge of housing legislation, the local and national policy context, welfare reform and statutory instruments relating to Homelessness and social inclusion, as well as some experience of partnership working.

However, we appreciate that this may be a development opportunity for you and we will welcome applications from those that do not meet all of the essential criteria but have the ability to develop any gaps in knowledge and experience sufficiently.

If you have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, can build effective working relationships with key stakeholders quickly and can work on your own initiative, then we want to hear from you.

We recognise the importance of a good balance between work and home life so we do everything we can to accommodate flexible working including, working from home, compressed or part-time hours, term time only, job shares and other arrangements. Please just let us know in your application or at any stage throughout the process (and beyond) if these are options you’d like to explore. We also offer a generous holiday allowance of 39 paid days (pro rata) including bank holidays and a wide range of learning and development opportunities.

In addition, we offer a comprehensive range of staff benefits such as membership of the Local Government pension scheme, childcare vouchers, new technology scheme, interest-free loans on annual travel cards, discounts with many leisure activities, restaurants, shops and other establishments.
