Working as part of one of electrical engineers post holders that are responsible for the provision of safe, reliable and efficient electrical services to borough's residents. Duties include liaison with & monitoring of contractors to ensure their prompt attendance to breakdowns, effective repair works completed according to an agreed programme, maintenance visits and statutory inspections are conducted as specified.
Confidence in using computer systems including MS Office software are essential, as is the ability to deal sensitively with residents and their representatives with the highest standard of customer care.
Reporting to the Senior Electrical Engineers, Deputy Head of Electrical and Head of Electrical for the management and supervision of electrical installations, electrical services including Boroughwide electrical maintenance contracts and project work undertaken by the post holder. This includes fire alarms, automatic opening ventilation, CCTV, emergency lighting, lightning protection systems, integrated reception systems, digital video recorder (sheltered housing schemes), door entry systems, Sky updates, standalone aerial systems and on Community Fibre. You will carry out pre and post inspections on electrical installations and assists with Major Works projects, Regeneration projects along with providing electrical expertise to any other department. You will also ensure that the contractor provides certification for each electrical installation when required.
This new position is to support an upcoming contract for electrical testing boroughwide.
It is essential to the post that candidates have a full driving licence and will provide full use of their own car to carry out this role. Standard casual user remuneration package is in place for business mileage incurred as part of the role. Engineers are expected to carry basic tools, test equipment, tablets or laptops and small access equipment such as step ladders.
Experience in Electrical testing procedures in accordance with the 18th Edition of IET Wiring Regulations; C&G 2330, 2357, 2365 level 3 AM2 & NVQ 2356 level 3 standard or equivalent in electrical or electronic engineering or have C&G 2391, 2394 & 2395 in inspecting and testing and certification of electrical installations or relevant experience gained within the industry.
