Haringey is recruiting talented social workers who are motivated and have the passion and ability to work with Learning Disabled adults, sometimes in challenging circumstances.

In keeping with our Borough Values we are looking for someone who will be able to work with our service users in a caring, ambitious, responsible way whilst always striving to work to highest of professional standards.

About the Role

Our Social Work Team makes up part of a wider multi-disciplinary Learning Disability Partnership where we work alongside colleagues from local health trusts to ensure the holistic needs of our service users are met.

Within the Social Work Team there are multiple functions, and this role would be part of the ‘Transition’ element of the team. This involves supporting young people and their families to navigate the move between children’s services and adult social care.

You will bring the principles of professionalism, ambition, accountability, dignity, respect, empathy, and a strength based, collaborative approach to service delivery.

You will be expected to have an excellent understanding of the legislation relevant to the role, specifically the:

  • Care Act
  • Children and Families Act
  • Mental Health Act
  • Mental Capacity Act
  • And be able to work in accordance with the legislative principles and any other relevant guidance or case law.

About You

A qualification in Social Work is essential for this post and you must be willing to complete an Enhanced DBS check. Ideally you will have experience of working within both Adult Learning Disability Services and Children with Disability Services, or at least experience working alongside either service as part of a Transition Team.

Other training undertaken since qualification should be evidenced with your application. Experience of working as a practice educator as a DoLS Assessor would be desirable.

You will need:

  • Excellent assessment skills
  • Be able to work with service user and carers in times of crisis
  • Work with individuals and families in an outcome focused way using a Strength Based Approach
  • To manage a caseload of varied complexity
