What it's like working in our team...
It will be busy and varied working within the Highways and Transport team, you’ll also need to work with Planning teams, our Rangers, Public Open Space, and Term Maintenance Contractor too, to ensure Bracknell is delivering on its duties. Good communication skills are vital, as are the interpersonal skills it takes to work as part of a team and liaise with a wide range of professionals.
You will be supported to carry out the following duties, responsibilities and training...
To be the councils Lead Technical Specialist responsible for delivering the Council’s Flood Risk Management duties as Lead Local Flood Authority.
Provide technical assurance and develop internal standards, procedures and policies within the specialist area of flood risk management.
To respond to consultations from the Local Planning Authority (LPA) on major and minor planning applications with regard to surface water drainage.
To work collaboratively across the organisation to build and develop the Flood Asset Register.
Oversee the commissioning of flood investigations and manage the preparation of flood alleviation schemes and development of external funding applications for capital drainage schemes.

What we're looking for...
Great at prioritising and self-motivated individual, who is creative, innovative, and comfortable working to deadlines. Good communication skills are vital, as are the interpersonal skills it takes to work as part of a team and liaise with a wide range of professionals.
To succeed, you’ll need a degree in a appropriate discipline (e.g. civil engineering), extensive knowledge of the Floods and Water Management Act, the Land Drainage Act and drainage design and construction experience. Confident in your ability to apply current government policies, design standards and legislation you’re also adept at analysing information and producing coherent reports and recommendations on complex subject matters.
