Job Details

Cambridgeshire County Council’s vision is to make Cambridgeshire a great place to call home. We are ambitious about the way in which we can support and shape the future success of our communities. As the fastest growing county in the UK, a big focus for Cambridgeshire is on developing and maintaining our highways and transportation networks, supporting business and growth, while working towards our ambition of carbon net zero by 2050, with an aim to bring this forward to 2030. We want to ensure that Cambridgeshire continues to be a great place to live, work and learn, for both existing and new residents.

With exciting new developments and high profile projects underway and in the pipeline for many years to come, working with partners Cambridgeshire is going through a period of tremendous growth and change. As we emerge from the pandemic, there has never been a more important time for Cambridgeshire to be a truly connected county. To support these growth aims, the Council is seeking ambitious and talented individuals to lead and support the Council with delivery of its ambitious infrastructure projects, working closely with stakeholders and supply chain partners.

The skills required to deliver these projects are wide ranging including knowledge of the project lifecycle, procurement and commissioning of major projects, stakeholder management, land negotiations, and statutory legal processes such as planning.

The Senior Project Officer will need to have an understanding of the project lifecycle, including the development of project plans, maintenance of risk and issue logs together with an ability to plan resources and manage project budgets across the life of the project.

The post holder will require excellent communication skills, be able to work collaboratively with partners and the supply chain, and have the ability to engage with stakeholders including elected members.

In return, the Council offers a variety of benefits including Local Government Pension Scheme, flexible working and an opportunity to be a key participant in delivering an ambitious and wide ranging growth agenda.

Applications require a CV with a covering letter of no more than two sides of A4 detailing: "Why you want to join Cambridgeshire County Council and why you consider yourself suitable for the role".

The closing date for applications is midnight on 6th December 2021.
Interviews will be held w/c 10th January 2022.

For an informal discussion about this position, please contact Alex Deans, Assistant Director: Project Delivery, at alex.deans@cambridgeshire.gov.uk or 01480 378146.

We are proud to serve the diverse communities of Cambridgeshire and want our workforce to be reflective of this diversity, which we believe benefits our employees, the organisation and our communities.
