As part of our commitment to promoting the best outcomes for children in York, an exciting opportunity has arisen to join Children’s Services.

About the role;

As an Independent Reviewing Officer you will help maintain excellent scrutiny, challenge and support in the planning and delivery of support to children and young people in care, subject to child protection plans and Supervision Orders.

You will be passionate about promoting the voice and influence of children in planning for their lives, with excellent interpersonal and reporting skills.

You will have good analytical skills, ability to chair challenging, and at times emotionally charged, meetings and have the ability to achieve collaborative resolution of complex safeguarding and service provision issues.

You will be skilled in confidently working with children of all ages, their families and carers, multi agency partnerships and senior managers.  

Applicants must have current professional registration with Health and Care Professionals Council (HCPC).

Significant post qualifying experience including

  • Experience of delivering successful outcomes children and young people in care
  • Experience of working with children in need of safeguarding.
  • An ability to use management information systems to ensure the service meets its statutory requirements.

This is a 12 month  Fixed term post

As this role is public facing, applicants will need to demonstrate, at interview, their competency to converse and provide advice and guidance to members of the public, in spoken English to CEFR level C1: Can express him/herself fluently and spontaneously, almost effortlessly. Only a conceptually difficult subject can hinder a natural, smooth flow of language.
