About You & the Role

Haringey is a dynamic and diverse borough, but with a business community and economy facing considerable challenges. Do you have the experience and skills to make a positive difference to the Haringey business community, as we work together to support them to overcome challenges and capitalise on business opportunities?

The COVID-19 pandemic has impacted on our business community and high streets unlike anything else in our lifetime. Our Good Economy Recovery Plan and High Streets Recovery Action Plan set out the challenge and what the council intends to do to support local businesses recover and grow. The council’s initial response included expanding its Economic Development Team to provide additional support to our businesses and to help deliver the Recovery Plans.

The post holder, reporting to the Economic Development Manager, will take a lead on some of the Recovery Plan projects and business support initiatives but also work on projects led by the wider team. Communicating effectively with our businesses is essential and the postholder will be responsible for producing the council’s business bulletins and ensuring the business web pages are up to date, and that there is consistency across our communication channels working with colleagues in the Communications Team.

Our ideal candidate will have experience of:

  • Engaging and supporting businesses and business networks/associations
  • Developing, commissioning, and managing projects & programmes to support small and medium size businesses
  • Working with workspace operators and occupiers
  • Business communications across a range of methods such as social media, websites, and business bulletins
