Join our Virtual Information and Advice session. We will be running virtual training and information sessions prior to recruitment so that you are aware of the work that this role involves and are equipped to make the best of your application on 24th November 2021. 

In the Housing Inclusion Service, we do all we can to ensure that people have homes. We are looking to recruit a cohort of enthusiastic individuals who will bring the right skills and ethos to helping people that are homeless or threatened with homelessness. As part of our team, you will change many lives for the better by supporting people into accommodation.

Housing experience is not required. We will provide comprehensive training for successful candidates. We will be running virtual training and information sessions prior to recruitment so that you are aware of the work that this role involves and are equipped to make the best of your application. We will help kickstart your career in Homelessness.

This role would be ideal for:

  • experienced Housing Officer OR
  • someone with knowledge of the benefits system/tenancy relations OR
  • you could be a customer focussed individual looking for a new and rewarding challenge.

We are looking for individuals with plenty of empathy, good literacy and numeracy skills and some customer service experience. Whatever your background, you will be dealing with complex customer situations that require teamwork, sensitivity and good communication.

Although not compulsory, we are also keen to employ individuals with lived experience of homelessness and/or life in temporary accommodation as we believe people with lived experience of homelessness have unique insight into the factors that contribute to homelessness and can provide solutions that are effective.

The Royal Borough of Greenwich has high levels of housing need and our Service aims to prevent homelessness wherever possible and to enable people to access different housing options. As a Housing Inclusion Officer, you will work to prevent homelessness through various schemes and projects as well as negotiate with landlords to sustain tenancies. Housing Inclusion Officers manage their own caseloads and deliver the duties required by the Homelessness Reduction Act 2017. Housing Inclusion Officers will be involved in investigative casework, home visits, partnership work, one-to-one interviews with applicants and front-line duty work.
