Small but mighty, Stoke-on-Trent is a city on the up where children and young people are our number one priority. Fuelled by ambition and capability to transform, it’s a place with a compelling shared vision including, most importantly, for its children and young people. We’re a city council driven to deliver continuous improvement, exemplary partnership working and to support children and young people to have the best possible opportunity to aspire and thrive.

We’re a city on an exciting journey. We are the litmus test for the Government’s levelling up agenda and a hot bed for innovation, with transformation underway across the city focused on improving outcomes for all our residents. We’re working hard to deliver for our children and young people and are in a very different place from when we went into statutory intervention at the start of 2019. We’re confident in the future.

Our new Director of Children and Family Services will join a collegiate team of political and corporate leaders who believe in the value of working together, and who are fully committed to children and young people. You will lead our innovative approach, capitalising on the dedication of our highly skilled workforce. You will work closely with education leaders to build on what was achieved during the pandemic, helping drive up educational standards and building the Special Educational Needs and inclusion offer that our children deserve.

We are looking for a leader who is passionate about making a real difference to the lives of children, young people and families in Stoke-onTrent. We want a team player who can continue to build a great leadership team and a cohesive, skilled and engaged workforce who are equally committed to excellence and improving outcomes. You will be up for a challenge, ready to build on the progress that has already been made and to harness the support that our committed political and corporate leadership team will offer to you.
