About Us:

Make every house a home.

With a focus on delivering exceptional results for our community, the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea is passionate about making decisions that will directly benefit our local residents. We apply the highest standards to all that we do, and we endeavour to always listen to the needs of our population. This is particularly true of our Housing and Social Investment department who are creating high quality 21st century estates in which every resident is comfortable and safe.

The Role:

As a member of our highly valued Housing Management team, you will deliver repairs for properties that are void and in need of refurbishment, plus those that are occupied by tenants. Working across our estates, you will see to it that they are safe for the residents, and that they are being maintained to the highest standards. While your challenges will constantly change, depending on your area of expertise, you can expect to handle repairs in key areas such as electrical, plumbing and carpentry. With the freedom to prioritise your tasks, you will take responsibility for creating a safe and welcoming environment for every resident. And while you will often take ownership of projects, there will always be a colleague ready to help if you need a second pair of hands. From determining what materials, you need to handle the repair in one visit through to completing the relevant paperwork, this is a fantastic opportunity to join a collaborative and friendly team.

About You:

This is an exciting chance to deliver a great quality of life for our residents. To be equal to this challenge, you will therefore thrive in a busy environment, and you won’t be phased by meeting key targets and deadlines. With a background in house repairs or an equivalent repairs type role, you will ideally have experience of maintaining and servicing heating and hot water systems, with particular emphasis on unvented hot water systems – or you will be willing to complete a G3 qualification. NICEIC registered with a CSCS Card, you will have a trade relevant qualification (such as City & Guilds, NVQ and ACS) or a background in three or more trades. As there will be a great deal of interaction with the residents, you will have fantastic customer-facing and communication skills, and you will be a team-player who strictly adheres to all COSHH and HSE legislation. You will also need a driving license, and you will be willing to join the out-of-hours call-out service.

In return, you can look forward to a package that includes a competitive salary, a high-quality pension scheme and generous annual leave plus bank holidays.

Please apply online explaining how you meet the requirements set out in the person specification and job description. CV’s will not be considered for this role.
