We have a vibrant and dedicated public health team in Bexley, and as our Senior Public Health Intelligence Specialist you will have the opportunity to play a key role in the team at senior management level. In addition to the core technical and analytical skills implicit in the role, it is a significant leadership role which provides you with the ability to directly influence key decisions and service development. This is an exciting opportunity to work with other senior leaders in managing the population of Bexley's health and wellbeing.

The ideal candidate for this post will have proven experience of statistical analysis, interpretation of data statistics, and modelling, alongside advanced excel skills and experience using specialist statistical software. In addition, it is essential that you understand epidemiological techniques and know the relevant data sources used in Public Health.

You will take the lead in the collection and analysis of data to support the on-going development of specific public health programmes and provide significant input into the process of understanding the health needs of the local population and the identification of health inequalities. You will work through a matrix arrangement with data analysts in the council’s Strategy, Performance and Insight Team as well as with other analysts in the local and regional NHS.

For this role you will need to have a degree, postgraduate qualification or relevant experience in health intelligence, health information management or analysis within a public health sector. Specialist statistical and analytical knowledge, together with an understanding of health services, local authorities and their associated responsibilities for adults and children.
