About the Role

This is a fixed term position funded for 6 month to deliver and develop specialised response to unaccompanied asylum seeking children and respond to a growing demand with regard to age assessments and response to Judicial Review.

We are a busy and supportive service working with looked after children and young people leaving care aged 16 to 25 years old and playing a vital role in ensuring positive futures. We also manage the referral and assessment for unaccompanied minors arriving in the borough aged 16 and over and ensure a robust response to age assessment requirements.

The role will take on a vital strategic position in developing innovative and effective practice with unaccompanied minors on their arrival and journey through care. The role will require the post holder to ensure we have responded effectively to external changes, and makes efficient use of scare resources providing some monitoring oversight of the grant claim and reconciliation of data and performance.

The post holder will manage the referral and assessment for newly arriving UASC’s, and ensure development of model of good practice, embed clear procedures and training programmes for all YAS staff and ensure appropriate use of NRPF connect.

You will need to liaise effectively and efficiently with both internal and external partners to ensure that children and young people are safe. Therefore, your written and verbal communication would be second to none and you would be used to providing high quality, evidence based assessments and the application of signs of safety.
