PO2: Starting salary £36,618 pa rising in annual increments to £39,462 pa Incl. LW

You will need to be technically sound. You’ll need experience of disrepair cases, of planned cyclical works, of complex repairs and defects management. However above all, to succeed in this particular role, you should get a buzz out of helping people.

You will be going into our customers’ homes, many of whom are feeling frustrated with a problem in their home. They may have a long history of issues and will want to take things out on you.

Your excellent people skills will be required to show empathy, to listen and to get to the heart of the problem so you can identify the correct solution first time round. Most importantly, you’ll let the customer know exactly what will happen next and will keep in touch with them along the journey so they can feel reassured that the problem will actually get solved.

You’ll need patience and determination to work with colleagues in the organisation as well as external contractors, councillors and housing officers.

You will need to be extremely well organised to track all the moving parts of each job you are involved in.

This is not a role for just any surveyor. Our team needs somebody with the x-factor to make this a success. Some residents on regeneration estates sometimes feel that they have been forgotten. It will be up to you to make sure that they know this is not the case.

A big part of your role is to work alongside colleagues at Homes For Lambeth as our team is responsible for managing the homes that they have built which makes us accountable.

You’ll get to work autonomously and create and manage your own workload. You’ll also be encouraged to be innovative and put forward ideas to help continuously improve the service.

Your role will occasionally involve the odd evening meeting but you will also be able to balance your hobbies and interests with a healthy work/life balance thanks to our flexible working policy.

If you want to be part of a team that see people as their greatest asset and encourages personal growth please email Guy Sanderson (gsanderson@lambeth.gov.uk) for further information.

Closing date: Tuesday 4th January 2022 at midnight.
