We are a shared ICT service, supporting the local councils in Brent, Lewisham and Southwark, as well as the Local Government Association, Lewisham Homes and the Department for Housing and Pensions. We are located at the Brent Council’s Civic Centre, Wembley, with onsite client teams at Laurence House in Catford and Tooley Street, near London Bridge, Southwark

Brent is a tremendously vibrant London borough where the iconic arch of Wembley Stadium dominates the skyline. Spanning both inner and outer London, it is a borough of huge contrasts in terms of its economic, environmental, ethnic and social make up. Brent’s diversity is evident to all who visit our borough and our long history of ethnic and cultural diversity has created a place that is truly unique and valued by those who live and work here.

About the Shared Technology Service

We are looking to add talent to our Platform Team in a number of areas, specifically for this role we are looking for an expert in patching and Windows updates.

With a customer-focused attitude, the IT Support Consultants will take ownership of calls and resolve these within their SLAs. They will work on a rota basis covering call triage, call resolution & escalation, on-site support across all shared service sites, project related work, and provide cover for colleagues in other teams as and when required.

The successful candidates will design and implement solutions to technical issues, meticulously documenting these to aid colleagues with similar tickets to resolve. The IT Support Consultants will need to provide out-of-hours cover occasionally.

Additional responsibilities for more senior role include management of suppliers & contracts and being a technical authority in patching and Windows updates - you will then use this authority to influence the design of future IT services.

The Person

The ideal candidate, a subject management expert in patching and windows updates, will show commitment to resolving technical issues, specifically security issues around patch management and zero day exploits. They will be flexible in their approach and have an ability to see the bigger picture by prioritising efficiently. This role brings a varied range of challenges so the IT Support Consultants will be willing to learn continuously. You will be able to demonstrate the ability to patch and update MS Windows Servers (virtual and Cloud hosted) using System Centre Configuration Manager (SCCM) and Microsoft End Point Configuration Manager. In addition you will be responsible for Anti- Virus Software Management on Servers using “System Center End Point Protection(SCEP)”. “ManageEngine” patch management skills would be desirable. As this is a third level support role, we would anticipate demonstrable experience in business continuity and disaster recovery planning. In addition to ensuring continuous service availability, you will expected to report on patch management and that it remains above the defined threshold.

The successful candidate will have good interpersonal and communication skills in discussing resolutions with users and their team. They should be willing to go the extra mile to take responsibility in ensuring a high level of service for our partners and other organisations we support.
