London Borough of Haringey

We’ve laid the foundations, will you help us deliver?

Haringey offers the very best of London: diversity, heritage, culture and opportunity. As a Council, we’re ambitious for our Borough’s future and for the people who live and work here. Whilst the world has changed for everyone in light of Covid19, some things remain the same - and Haringey’s greatest strength is still its people. We continue to work together and look out for each other, becoming stronger and more resilient every day.

We’ve already begun tackling housing affordability, homelessness, and housing standards, as well as having produced our climate change action plan to become net-zero carbon by 2041. We have a significant investment programme, including more than 1,000 new Council homes, refurbishing our Civic Centre and wider Council Accommodation Strategy and an ambitious capital programme to help deliver improvements to our schools and community facilities, is under way.

About the role

Now we’re looking for a Head of Strategic Asset Management to join us in driving things further. Property is a major resource of ours, with a significant number of industrial holdings – valued at £2.377 billion in March 2019 - so the way we manage it is pivotal. Together, we’ll deliver for our communities and bring real and positive change to the Borough.

About you

Positioning yourself right at the heart of our plans, you’ll manage our Strategic Asset Management team, Children’s Programme team and Capital Projects and Property PMO team. Within this senior role, you’ll oversee our decisions around assets and establish our Asset Management Plan. This plan is central to our success. Working with senior colleagues from across the council and our key external partners, you will guide future property use and investment needs, prioritise assets for investment and effectively put current ones to best use, particularly around carbon neutrality and how to unlock the potential of our strong asset base.

The role calls for someone who shares our commitment to delivering for our communities. You’ll have a clear social purpose and to be passionate about improvement. Whilst we are looking for an expert with senior level experience and exceptional technical skills, you don’t need to have gained these in the public sector - a commercial background is just as welcome. In fact, you’ll definitely need commercial awareness. You’ll also have excellent people skills, the confidence to communicate at all levels and a good understanding of asset management and relevant policy.
