London Borough of Haringey

We’ve laid the foundations, will you help us deliver?

Haringey offers the very best of London: diversity, heritage, culture and opportunity. As a Council, we’re ambitious for our Borough’s future and for the people who live and work here. Whilst the world has changed for everyone in light of Covid19, some things remain the same - and Haringey’s greatest strength is still its people. We continue to work together and look out for each other, becoming stronger and more resilient every day.

We’ve already begun tackling housing affordability, homelessness, and housing standards, as well as having produced our climate change action plan to become net-zero carbon by 2041, this role will play a key part in a diverse range of climate and regeneration schemes, some of the largest in London. We have our significant investment programme, including more than 1,000 new Council homes, refurbishing our Civic Centre and wider Council Accommodation Strategy and an ambitious capital programme to help deliver improvements to our schools and community facilities, is under way.

About the role

Now we’re looking for a Head of Property to join us in driving things further. Property is one of our major resources – valued at £2.377 billion in March 2019 - so the way we manage it is pivotal. Together, we’ll deliver for our communities and bring real and positive change to the Borough. In this strategic position, you’ll oversee the leadership, operations and management of our Property function. From disposal and acquisition projects, to new developments and our commercial portfolio, you’ll not only provide professional advice, you’ll review practices, plan change and manage budgets too. In short, you’ll make sure we are as efficient as effective as possible – in turn ensuring the very best for everyone here in Haringey.

The role calls for someone who shares our commitment to delivering for our communities. You’ll have a clear social purpose and to be passionate about improvement. Whilst we are looking for an expert with senior level experience and exceptional technical skills, you don’t need to have gained these in the public sector - a commercial background is just as welcome. In fact, you’ll definitely need commercial awareness. You’ll also need MRICS Chartered Surveyor registration and RICS membership, excellent people skills, the confidence to communicate at all levels and a good understanding of asset management and relevant policy.
