About Haringey

We are investing in creating a better borough for all our residents and bettering the lives of children and young people in Haringey is our first corporate priority. We are located in the north of the capital with a population of approximately 250,000 people and a growing population of 0-19-year olds. We are a diverse and fast-changing borough and tomorrow’s leaders; artists and innovators are busy growing up here.

Haringey is transforming its services for children and young people, and have already made exciting, innovative changes as we strive for excellence in all we do.

In short, we’re a council with high ambitions; a place to work that is full of energy and focus.

Our teams have passion, integrity and commitment, and people join us, do so as they see Haringey is a learning organisation, and the people that work here strive for continuous improvement in their practice, aiming high to ensure we provide outstanding outcomes for our children.

We offer a great place to develop a career that is yours to own.

About the Role

Do you have the ambition and drive to join the team in taking Haringey Youth Service forward, providing effective business support functions to the management team and core aspects of the service?

We are seeking a Business Support Officer with a track record of performing to a high standard. You will be part of a committed and resilient multi-disciplinary team which places children at the heart of their practice.

The purpose of the role is to provide administrative support to the service, wherein reception duties form a significant part albeit currently in a reduced capacity due to the current lockdown arrangements.  The role will be partly based at home and partly working from the office for now.

Other tasks include minute taking, processing invoices, data recording on our case management system, which requires excellent attention to detail and communication skills together with strict adherence to deadlines.

You will also be required to undertake other generic administrative duties.   Due to the nature of the work, you will be expected to maintain confidentiality at all times.

About You

We are looking for a competent and dedicated Business Support Officer with experience of providing excellent business support functions, ideally in a complex or regulated environment delivering high quality services.

Experience of working in a Children and Young People’s environment would be an advantage but is not essential as full support and training will be provided.

Other skills and experience we are looking for include:

  • Experience of using Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Knowledge of council services and the role they play in meeting the needs of the community
  • Ability to work under pressure and respond effectively to rapidly changing priorities and deadlines
