Your work won’t just change the landscape of Thurrock, it’ll transform its people, its prospects and its potential.

This is a ground-breaking time for Thurrock. Our borough is a place that is changing and developing at pace and we have a huge opportunity for growth that is almost unrivalled elsewhere in the UK. Together, we’re excited by the opportunity to transform the economic, social and environmental opportunities that are open to our residents and the business community.

Thurrock’s growth strategy includes £20billion of investment in jobs, homes and infrastructure; 1,000 acres of land ready for business development; three international ports along 18 miles of riverfront, just 30 minutes from central London by train; and the creation of 24,500 new jobs. Thurrock is the largest regeneration area in the UK, with six major growth hubs in the borough alone.

In support of these ambitions, we seek an enthusiastic Assistant Director for Property & Facilities Management to lead the Council’s strategic property, facilities management and assets portfolio. Following a period of change as a result of a restructure within the directorate, we need a true leader of people to bring innovation and inspiration to our technical teams. You will have the scope to build out your resources and develop individuals to create a culture of excellence, all whilst ensuring our services are fit to support the Council’s future growth plans.

As Assistant Director, you will be the lead officer in developing and driving our Corporate Landlord function. Reporting to the Corporate Director for Resources & Place Delivery, you will manage a review of all of our corporate assets, collaborating with Elected Members to focus on three political priorities – retain, reuse and release. Getting the best value for money and maximising the Council’s portfolio of assets in support of major regeneration and growth projects will be key, so you must bring sound commercial knowledge and an ability to identify and develop new income generation schemes.

This is Thurrock as you’ve never seen it before. If you think you’ve got what it takes, join us and help to lead cutting-edge change within our borough.
