Workbase: Usually this role is based in Parkhouse Carlisle but due to COVID-19 it will involve homeworking/working from home. Flexible working options are also available.
We are looking to recruit a hard-working and motivated professional Project Lead.
This role is a key post within the Capital Programme Team and they will focus primarily on the delivery of construction projects within the People and Corporate portfolio including school's property maintenance projects. However the team is flexible and team members work across the team's full portfolio.
The team is responsible for the delivery of the council's £100m annual capital programme which supports every one of the council's front-line services and back office functions. The team delivers design construction and maintenance projects for Children's Services Adult Services the Highways Service the corporate property portfolio and Cumbria Fire and Rescue service.
We are looking for a motivated and hardworking candidate and joining this team will put you in a great position to directly improve outcomes for the people of Cumbria and the right candidate will take ownership of design and construction projects and provide project management expertise across the full project lifecycle.
The Project Lead will engage with internal and external stakeholders across Cumbria's communities the council's directorates and other organisations and partners to ensure that the infrastructure delivered meets the need of the county's stakeholders. We are looking for candidates who will procure expert designers and construction partners through the council's procurement frameworks and manage them through the design and construction phases of your projects.
You will ensure that your projects are delivered safely to a high standard economically and timely and be willing to review your projects with a desire to make improvements as well as share and learn with the wider Capital Programme team.
Who we are looking for:
The ideal candidate will have project management experience in the delivery of property construction projects. Experience of working in the local government environment would be useful however we welcome expertise from other fields to drive our commercial agenda and deliver best value for the people of Cumbria. You must be adaptable and thrive in an ever-changing working environment and must be comfortable managing change. You must be a candidate who is committed to organisational learning and developing colleagues whether under your direct line management or not.
