Lambeth is one of the most dynamic and exciting places in the UK. The borough stretches from the banks of the Thames opposite the Houses of Parliament to Streatham and West Norwood in the south, via the South Bank, Clapham, Brockwell Park, iconic Brixton and the UK’s busiest station at Waterloo.

The successful candidate will lead and supervise a team of housing staff managing properties occupied by tenants and leaseholders.  You will deliver clear and equitable leadership to motivate your team to maximise their potential as well as raising levels of customer satisfaction.  Your team will be responsible for delivering an integrated generic housing service to tenants, leaseholders and other customers including the following:

  • All estate environmental contracts including cleaning and grounds maintenance, waste removal, parking and lighting
  • Health and Safety inspections of all properties including actions to minimize risk of fire
  • Tenancy and leasehold management
  • Noise nuisance and anti-social behaviour
  • Resident engagement
  • Supporting vulnerable residents
  • Void property management
  • Delivering excellent customer care

You will have a strong focus on performance management and will be responsible for ensuring that staff deliver an efficient, responsive, and proactive service and co-ordinate the successful delivery of all Key Performance Indicators within the Team in accordance with relevant council policies and procedures.   

You will carry out regular 1-2-1s, appraisals and use performance management techniques to drive up performance.  You will ensure team members adhere to the Lambeth Behaviours, ensure training is provided and manage HR issues including performance and attendance.

You will be able to make decisions and take effective action in dealing with challenging situations. You must be able to work collaboratively with your colleagues to identify genuine needs of residents and jointly develop effective solutions as well as using your own initiative to achieve positive outcomes to problems.

Requirements:

  • Have detailed knowledge and understanding of current issues facing social housing.
  • Experience of dealing with complex enquiries from tenants, leaseholders, Councillors, Members of Parliament and internal and external partners.
  • Have experience of working in a social housing setting.
  • Have experience of ensuring staff deliver an efficient, responsive and proactive service and co-ordinate the successful delivery of all key performance indicators within a team.

The successful applicant will be able to display excellent communication skills, display impeccable time and management skills and will be results driven to provide continual improvements to the processes within the authority.
