Salary: SC5 (£25,137 – £26,520 per annum, pro rata)
Contract Type: Casual, as & when required
Closing Date: Sunday 23rd January 2022
About the Role
Your main responsibility will be to transport the Mayor to and from official events, ensuring their safety and well-being. You will be supporting the Mayor at events and will have a public role in representing the borough and promoting its values. The job mixes a range of roles as ambassador, diplomat, adviser and guide.
In order to undertake your duties you will also be required to ensure that arrangements for the Mayor’s transport are in place including any car hire, parking and also maintaining the integrity of the Mayor’s Civic Regalia.
About You
It is important that you can work with and relate to people from a wide range of backgrounds, from members of the Royal Family to primary school children. As a result, you will need to be personable, adaptable and flexible, and be able to think on your feet to meet the requirements of the Mayor and the people they meet. You will also need a full and clean driving licence and some working knowledge of local government would be preferable.
You will also need to be reliable, discreet, and punctual. We are looking to recruit someone who holds all of these qualities to drive and accompany the mayor to official mayoral engagements. You will be expected to be available as and when required to accompany the Mayor. This will include being able to work in the evenings and at weekends.
Other Requirements
This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974. An enhanced disclosure check with the DBS will be undertaken.
