We are looking for newly qualified and experienced Social Workers to join our highly regarded and consistently high performing children’s social care teams. North Yorkshire County Council Children’s Social Care were assessed as outstanding by OFSTED in 2018 and in June 2021.

We are dedicated to developing our community of employees within the Council and you will have many opportunities to progress within your career, which could include Advanced Practitioner along with Practice Educator, Practice Supervisor & management opportunities. 

We have an established ASYE programme where there is dedicated support for social workers in their first year of practice, this includes additional training and supervision and mentoring.

As a Children & Families Social Worker, your focus is to support children, their family and network to achieve positive change that continues after we no longer need to be involved. Together we will create conditions that allow relationships to flourish. Our practice system is built to deliver this outcome. Keeping children safe and families together, the right intervention at the right time in the right place.

You will be part of a highly-acclaimed supportive service that has a comprehensive programme to ensure new recruits have a thorough induction, receive ongoing support from managers , regular access to training including Signs of Safety, Systemic Practice and Family Finding.

As a service, we are committed to creating a healthy culture where social workers feel that they have a forum to share their views about the organisation and environment in which they work. We pride ourselves on our confident workforce who feel safe and the mapping of cases has further enhanced their practice, which is core to this model.  We have been nominated for several awards and have previously won Employer of the Year at the Social Work Awards.
