About Us:

Develop a brand-new role championing health and wellbeing across diverse communities.

At the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea, we put delivering for our communities at the heart of everything we do. We are passionate about maximising the opportunities all residents have to improve their health and wellbeing. Key to this is the provision of leisure, sports and physical activity services that are high quality, safe, innovative, and good value.

The Role:

In this new role, you will enjoy an exciting opportunity to make a positive impact on health and wellbeing across the Borough. As Leisure and Sports Manager, you will focus on managing the Council’s leisure contract, in partnership with GLL, ensuring Kensington Leisure Centre and Chelsea Sports Centre deliver high quality, accessible and effective leisure services. This position will also lead on developing and delivering an engaging programme of physical activities for all residents.

Committed to getting the very best from the local environment, green spaces, and leisure centres, you will promote the benefits of our services and facilities. This will include managing our sports development officers, who deliver a programme to get residents active, which we are keen to grow.

You will give particular thought and effort to engaging hard-to-reach residents, who are among those who could benefit the most from our services. As well as engaging with our diverse local communities and working with our public health partners, you will oversee the management of contracts within our leisure services. Through robust client management and systems, you will make sure the Council obtains optimum value and service quality from contractors. Developing great relationships will be at the heart of your approach to driving continuous improvement.

You also need good understanding and experience of sports development including project management, health and safety requirements, risk assessment, and relevant compliance regulations.

Enthusiastic about your work and this opportunity, you demonstrate a genuine passion for delivering better health outcomes. It is your way with people that really sets you apart - from your ability to communicate with people from all kinds of backgrounds, through to your flair for managing and motivating a team.

In return, you can look forward to a package that includes a competitive salary, a high-quality pension scheme and generous annual leave plus bank holidays.
