Assistant Chief Fire Officer - Cumbria Fire and Rescue Service
Cumbria Fire and Rescue Service are permanently recruiting to the post of Assistant Chief Fire Officer and we are looking for an ambitious and motivated senior fire officer to step into this key role supporting and progressing the Service through delivery strategic management cultural improvement and empowering teams to deliver high quality services.
The ideal candidate will collaborate with stakeholders partners communities and residents to ensure services are responsive to needs across the county and you lead by example to achieve efficient service design and delivery. Cumbria Fire and Rescue Service as part of the wider changes to Local Government in Cumbria will transition to new governance model by April 2023. As part of the CFRS Strategic Leadership Team you will play a critical strategic role in ensuring a successful transition.
The operational capability of Cumbria Fire and Rescue Service is based on 38 fire stations located across the county. With over 600 operational firefighters front facing delivery teams and support staff we expect candidates will be resilient visionary leaders displaying determination and a collaborative approach to secure a positive future for emergency service activity across the county.

We are offering this post as either an Operational ACO or Non-Operational ACO.
For those interested in applying for the Operational ACO role we are keen to hear from officers with significant Incident Command experience with a proven ability to network and build key alliances and knowledge of the national regional and local political operating climate of the Fire and Rescue Service.
For the Non-Operational ACO post we welcome applications from candidates with experience in senior management who have a proven track record working with stakeholders blue light services and elected members in a politically sensitive environment.

For Operational positions the postholder will be expected to work on a Continuous Duty System basis to ensure they are always available to support a Strategic Coordination Group (SCG) or fulfil other strategic operational command requirements in the event of a significant incident. A vehicle will be provided for business use whilst on duty. Please see below link for the Strategic Operational Manager Working Arrangements.
