Universal Support Caseworker (Budgeting Project)

1FTE x Universal Support Caseworker vacancy

SO1 - £30,585 – 31,557

35 hours per week

We would like to recruit fixed term contract positions within Greenwich Welfare Rights Service and Universal Support Teams. The posts are fixed term initially until the end of March 2023 (extension subject to further funding).

We are a specialist welfare rights service, providing information and advice about the full-range of welfare benefits and tax credits to staff, advisers and residents. Support for staff includes a full training programme, analysis of the impact of benefit changes and advice for council colleagues and front-line advisers. Services for residents are mainly delivered through a telephone advice line, but also include information and publicity, talks, work with partners on specific projects, and outreach services.

In 2018, our service expanded to set up a Universal Support Team, which supports residents moving to and receiving Universal Credit to ensure that their claim is calculated correctly and their income is maximised.

Universal Support Vacancy:

We are looking to expand our pilot budgeting project, to support residents who are regularly applying for emergency support, or who are in debt with the Council. The role includes supporting residents with income/expenditure reviews, money management support and identifying income maximisation routes.

It is likely that all posts will be hybrid working, i.e. a combination of home based working in the office as restrictions ease.

The Royal Borough of Greenwich as an employer offers a generous benefits package.
