West Yorkshire Joint Services (WYJS) is set within a unique and diverse urban complex with five West Yorkshire local authorities – Bradford, Calderdale, Kirklees, Leeds and Wakefield, which formed a Mayoral Combined Authority since March 2020. Located at the heart of the UK, West Yorkshire has an abundant history and is a major commercial and cultural centre, surrounded by beautiful environment with the scenic valleys of Airedale and Wharfedale and deeply etched valleys of Rivers Aire and Calder, descending from the Pennine.

We are now seeking an experienced, politically astute and skilled leader, with proven abilities on change and business management who can demonstrate an ability to manage resources effectively. This role represents a truly unique opportunity for an exceptional individual who can combine their commercial acumen, political awareness and personal resilience to work with and develop our management team and to support our focus on ensuring that things are done ‘right first time’ and support our vision to enable social and economic prosperity and develop sustainable communities.

You will bring an understanding of working in a political environment and have developed effective and inclusive stakeholder and partnership working, with an ability to work with elected members and colleagues across the local authorities. As the Director for WYJS, you will manage, develop and lead, the organisation in delivering the Joint Services Committees aims and objectives and the statutory functions of the 5 Local Authorities.
