2 x 35 hours a week

1 x 17.5 hours a week

We would like to recruit fixed term contract positions within Greenwich Welfare Rights Service and Universal Support Teams. The posts are fixed term initially until the end of March 2023 (extension subject to further funding).

We are a specialist welfare rights service, providing information and advice about the full-range of welfare benefits and tax credits to staff, advisers and residents. Support for staff includes a full training programme, analysis of the impact of benefit changes and advice for council colleagues and front-line advisers. Services for residents are mainly delivered through a telephone advice line, but also include information and publicity, talks, work with partners on specific projects, and outreach services.

In 2018, our service expanded to set up a Universal Support Team, which supports residents moving to and receiving Universal Credit to ensure that their claim is calculated correctly and their income is maximised.

Welfare Rights Caseworker vacancies:

There is a vacancy in our general team for 17.5 hours.

The key focus of this post will be providing advice and information to borough residents, and to undertake casework which falls within our funded projects.  Advice will be delivered primarily by telephone, although may include outreach work subject to restrictions. We want to recruit a strong team member with a sound knowledge of key welfare benefits knowledge. This is currently funded until March 2023.

There are also two full time vacancies for our new take up project.

The new project is dedicated to take up work, utilising Council data to identify residents who are missing out on benefits and to support them with making the appropriate claims where needed, as well as provide comprehensive casework with any other benefit issues identified. This is currently funded until March 2023.
