Events Planner

Brent is a tremendously vibrant London borough where the iconic arch of Wembley Stadium dominates the skyline. Spanning both inner and outer London, it is a borough of huge contrasts in terms of its economic, environmental, ethnic and social make up. Brent’s diversity is evident to all who visit our borough and our long history of ethnic and cultural diversity has created a place that is truly unique and valued by those who live and work here.

The council is pursuing a far-reaching transformation agenda that better meets the needs of our community so it is an exciting time to join us.

The Post

We are looking for a creative and customer focused Events Planner to join our small, high performing sales & marketing team. The Events Planner is part of the sales team that exists to maximise commercial income generated from advertising and sponsorship, the Film Office and from hiring out events spaces in The Drum at Brent Civic Centre. The Drum is Brent Council’s flagship conference and events centre and host to a range of events including conferences, weddings, filming and corporate functions. No two days are the same in this role. You will lead on generating sales for The Drum. You will be able to hit the ground running by generating leads and then closing a sale before coordinating and planning events from start to finish. You will provide venue tours to prospective clients and will support the Sales and Marketing Manager to achieve financial targets.

The Person

This is a rare opportunity for a proactive and customer focused Events Planner who is keen to generate income that helps protect council services in Brent.

We are looking for a motivated and organised team player with professional experience working in a similar sales role for either an events venue or hotel.

The ideal candidate will have experience in venue or event sales and event management and will have experience delivering a range of events including weddings, conferences, meetings and large-scale events.

You will be proactive and able to manage a busy workload of event coordination responsibilities from day one.

You will be a team player, able to work on your own and use initiative with a keen eye for detail and strong time management skills.

You must be able to prioritise a varied workload in a busy and dynamic environment and have a "can do" solutions focused attitude.

Excellent interpersonal skills and effective verbal and written communication skills are essential, as is the ability to work under pressure.

Experience using the venue hire platform, Priava would be an advantage but is not essential.

Closing Date: 7 February 2022 (23:50)
