Strategic Housing Delivery Manager

Brent is a tremendously vibrant London borough where the iconic arch of Wembley Stadium dominates the skyline. Spanning both inner and outer London, it is a borough of huge contrasts in terms of its economic, environmental, ethnic and social make up. Brent’s diversity is evident to all who visit our borough and our long history of ethnic and cultural diversity has created a place that is truly unique and valued by those who live and work here.

The council is pursuing a far-reaching transformation agenda that better meets the needs of our community so it is an exciting time to join us.

The Post

The Housing team in Brent is responsible for some of the most important services to the residents of Brent. The services include;

  • Assessing the needs of and supporting people who are threatened with homelessness and finding them the right home,
  • Increasing the supply of genuinely affordable homes, including building new Council homes,
  • Improving the quality of accommodation in the private rented sector, through support and when necessary, enforcement and
  • Managing the Council’s c.12,000 homes.

We are a very busy and demanding service but also a rewarding one, both to the people to whom the services are provided and the people who provide the service.

There are good reasons for having these services under one roof and we want to keep them that way. However, with such a large and varied service, there is inevitably a lot of hand-offs within and between teams. Due to this, we want to refine our processes and practices, to make sure we deliver excellent customer experience at every service touch point.

The Person

Are you a problem solver? Can you build relationships and work collaboratively with other people, individuals and teams, externally and internally, to find deliverable and effective solutions to complex problems? Are you comfortable with challenging status quos and bringing people round to the way things should be?

If you can answer yes to these questions and you have excellent interpersonal skills and project management ability, then you might be the person we’re looking for.

Closing Date: 07 February 2022 (23:00)
