Contract: Permanent  

Hours of work: 36 hours per week

Location: Civic centre and other locations from time to time

Electoral Services Assistant

The Post

Due to promotion, we are looking for a committed and enthusiastic person to join our Electoral Services team.

The successful candidate will play a part in the preparation for, and conduct of, all elections and referendums. You will play a key role in maintaining the accuracy and comprehensiveness of the electoral register.

Brent is a large borough with approximately 236,000 registered electors and 150 polling stations. Last year, we delivered a very successful, Covid-safe election for the London Mayoral and Assembly elections, with staff demonstrating high levels of commitment, strong technical skills and collaboration.

Brent prides itself on its culture and the council is passionate about improving services, putting customers at its heart and supporting its staff. We offer a blend of remote and office based working. This is a politically restricted post.

The Person

To join the team you will need;

-Experience of working in an office environment, including data entry or administration 

-Experience of working as part of a team

- To demonstrate the ability to work with specialist software systems with excellent attention to detail

- Knowledge of election and electoral law  

- An understanding of the electoral process  

- The willingness to work outside standard working hours during election and registration canvass periods

-AEA Certificate in Electoral Administration or willingness to undertake the training

This position is only open to current employees of Brent Council or Temporary Agency Workers currently working in Brent Council.
