About the role

The role will lead a team of L&D professionals to deliver on our borough plan as well as our L&D commitments across the council.

The L&OD team is made up of Learning and Development Delivery Lead, Apprenticeship & Entry Programme Lead, Learning Delivery Specialist, Learning Support Officer and Learning Apprentice.

Reporting to the Head of Talent, Recruitment & Learning the L&OD Manager leads the corporate learning and development agenda for our leaders and colleagues. They are responsible for co-creating the learning strategy ensuring it is flexible in a complex and changing environment.

The role will also lead a talented team of L&D professionals who design, deliver and curate blended learning and development solutions to internally drive the strategic learning and development agenda for the organisation.

The L&OD team is currently working on a working on a number of projects including but not limited to developing our leaders, employees and creating tailored training to specialist areas.

About you

We are looking for a proactive, creative, and enthusiastic Learning and Development professional who has a demonstrable solid track record of working and/or can demonstrate capability of working in a large and complex organisation.

A strong leader, the successful candidate will be comfortable in working in diverse and politically sensitive environments and have a very strong sense of self and how this can impact the outcomes of an intervention. They will be pragmatic, consultative, strategic and be comfortable in holding clients to account whilst building lasting professional relationships and progressing the HR team’s strategic objectives.
