About ADPH

ADPH London is a small programme office hosted by the London Borough of Haringey, who represent the Directors of Public Health (DsPH) in London’s 32 local authorities + the City of London.

We’re a highly motivated, proactive, and professional team, which means you will be the same.  You may come from an office or project management role, perhaps from within the public sector.  Knowledge of public health isn’t essential, but an interest in the subject would be an advantage.

We’re working in a fast-paced and complex environment, which responds to the needs of the ADPH London Programme Board and the London Directors of Public Health.

About the Role

The Business Manager (BM) post is crucial in ensuring the smooth running of the ADPH London programme and office.  The BM is responsible for providing high quality, professional and comprehensive business management support to ensure ADPHL maintains its good reputation within the Public Health System.

Working closely with the Programme Support Officer, the BM is a key point of contact for the ADPH London office, ensuring that systems and process are effective and efficient. You will be an excellent communicator in order to build good relationships with key stakeholders such as Directors and Consultants of Public Health, Local Authorities, UK Health Security Agency, Office for Health Improvement and Disparities, the Greater London Authority, the NHS etc.

About You

The role requires someone who is quick thinking, proactive and has the planning and organisation skills to match.  This will include dealing with a range of complex and contentious matters, which require tact and sensitivity. Good financial management skills are a must and in the current environment, digital skills are essential.

You will be confident working in an environment where things can change rapidly, responding to challenges quickly and dealing with confidential and sensitive information.

You will have a degree in Business Management (or equivalent) and at least 2 years of relevant professional experience.  This includes, but may not be limited to, excellent communication, planning and organisational skills, understanding of financial management processes and experience of line management.

To be successful, you will need to be ability to problem solve and recommend solutions to improve efficiency. You will also be able to identify and mitigate risks and bring personal resilience and flexibility.

Benefits

We offer a local authority pension and a healthy work-life balance, with flexible working hours, work from home days, generous annual leave, and an interest free travel loan. The team is currently working remotely, but plan to return to some office based work in the coming months. We are committed to our employees and offer many opportunities for professional development. This includes training, shadowing and mentoring. You will be part of a wide professional network, across London and the UK.
