We are seeking an enthusiastic and highly motivated Policy and Partnerships Officer to be part of the Policy, Equalities and Participation team at Lambeth Council. This is a great opportunity for someone to play a central role in supporting the council to deliver its policy priorities for the borough, working with residents, partners, and services across the organisation.

Lambeth is an exciting and diverse place, rich in history. With over 320,000 residents, bustling markets, iconic venues and public events across our town centres, the borough is home to a diverse, strong and engaged population. The borough encompasses the popular cultural hub of the South Bank, the bustling street markets of Brixton, the open spaces of Clapham and Streatham Commons and the exciting regeneration of Vauxhall.

Yet the Covid-19 pandemic has shone a harsh light on many of the existing inequalities in the borough - and Lambeth council is committed to delivering a better, fairer borough and a recovery from Covid-19 that works for everyone. The council’s ambitions include tackling the climate emergency, making Lambeth a place where people want to live, work and invest – with diversity and inclusion at the heart of what we do.

You will play a role in designing, testing and delivering policy in support of this agenda and across a range of policy areas including neighbourhood working, digital inclusion and social value. You will also support the development and delivery of the new Borough Plan, setting our ambitions for the future. Working with senior officers and cabinet members, you will provide advice and guidance in support of the council’s decision-making.

We are looking for a capable all-rounder, an individual keen to innovate and someone who understands how councils operate in a complex and fast paced environment. An ability to pick up varied, complex and big profile policy topics is a must, as well as a capacity to produce briefings, guidance and other materials on a short turnaround. You will need to have a good understanding of local government and the challenges it faces and an interest in policy development. You will be a proactive, thoughtful individual with great organisational and written skills. Experience of working with design and agile principles are desirable.

Lambeth is committed to equality, diversity and inclusion and encourages applications from individuals from a range of backgrounds, particularly those traditionally underrepresented in policy leadership – including Black, Asian and Multi Ethnic, LGBTQ+ and gender diverse applicants.

For an informal conversation regarding the role, please contact Kieran Ferdinand - Head of Policy, Equalities and Participation KFerdinand@lambeth.gov.uk
