This is a challenging and exciting opportunity for a self-motivated individual seeking a role within Lambeth’s Commercial Services Team under the Housing Directorate. 

The emphasis on collaborative working in this division has created a unique opportunity for two Senior Commercial Managers who will each have oversight of a region of the borough (North or South). The roles are collectively responsible for administering a portfolio of £35m revenue/repair contracts and £35m annual capital programmes boroughwide. 

The post holders will work under the direction of the Head of Commercial Services to ensure that contractors successfully deliver capital projects, planned maintenance programmes and high volume repairs while securing best value for the Council in concurrence with crucial contract scrutiny.
You will manage and inspire a team of cost managers / quantity surveyors who deliver the Council’s contract scrutiny and cost management functions. The postholders will have experience with negotiations and resolving contractual disputes.

You should have knowledge and experience of construction and/or housing maintenance contracts with expertise in the field of quantity surveying (quantity surveying being a key day-to-day function of the team).  You should also be a strong manager with the ability to effectively maintain oversight of multiple contracts and provide contract/commercial advise for all business units within Housing Services (including procurement/tendering).
