Salary
Circa £95,000

Islington is a dynamic, inner London borough serving over 206,000 residents. We are determined to create a more equal Islington, where everyone who lives here has an equal chance to thrive.

The Council’s five key priorities reflect our residents’ ambitions and ideas and so it’s critical that these priorities underpin all our communications. Our new Assistant Director will ensure that we engage regularly and creatively with our communities. We are committed to working together, as one Islington, to make our borough the best possible place to live and work.

Reporting directly to the Chief Executive, we are looking for an outstanding communications professional who shares the council’s determination to drive change and whose values align with the council’s five key priorities.

As well as leading external communications, you will be responsible for our campaigns, digital offer, print service and internal comms. We are looking for a creative, inclusive and exciting leader who can inspire a large team of over 30 digital and communications professionals to engage and collaborate with residents, businesses, elected members and partners.

This is an exciting and fast-paced role which touches every neighbourhood that we deliver for. The right person will have a strong understanding of the political environment and excellent communications credentials gained in a public facing environment serving diverse communities.
