Children's Service - Family Solutions Practitioner (Edge of Care)

Employer
Lambeth Council
Location
Lambeth, London (Greater)
Salary
£35,067 - £42,609 per annum
Closing date
15 Feb 2022

In Lambeth, we have adopted a systemic approach, “Children at the Heart of Practice” to support our work with children and families.

We are driven by a focus on relationships, enabling and supporting change for families openly and collaboratively, and promoting children’s development and wellbeing.

As part of this approach, we are introducing several “specialist” teams which will work with Lambeth’s children and families in new and innovative ways to ensure they receive the right help at the right time.

One such team is the Family Solutions Service. The team sits alongside CSC teams and works with vulnerable children 11+ and their families to prevent entry into care by providing solution-focused brief therapy interventions for families on the edge of care or reunify children who recently have been placed in reactive episodes of care.

The new team will:

  • Provide supplementary, intensive support to children and families alongside the allocated Social Worker to reduce risk factors associated with child entry into care
  • Do not hold case responsibility as we are a secondary service
  • Provide a therapeutic space using SFBT model
  • Work in pairs and with manageable case loads
  • Access to Youth Workers in the team
  • Access to bespoke SFBT training

We are looking for committed and dynamic qualified Social Workers who want to try a new way of working with families in a multidisciplinary setting, alongside allocated SWs, with a unique opportunity to provide intensive support to families and aim to improve longer term outcomes for children and families and reduce the need for longer term statutory interventions.
