The Post

Brent ICT Solutions is seeking to appoint an experienced Database Administrator Team Leader to manage and lead the delivery and development of its highly available critical line of business application and database services across Brent, the LGA, Lewisham and Southwark.

The post holder will have several years’ experience working within a complex IT environment, on premise and Azure cloud, equipped with a variety of skills to assess and resolve key business challenges. This post will complement, and manage the existing SQL and Oracle database administrators within the Applications Hosting Support Team.

Reporting to Head of ICT Solutions, the role will entail working closely with senior stakeholders, Transformation colleagues, Shared Technologies Services and partner organisations to deliver quality professional services.  This is an exciting opportunity for the candidate to develop a centre of excellence.

The post holder will help implement our IT and Digital Transformation strategy, whilst managing and maintaining a large portfolio of enterprise level applications. One key element of the job is developing the team’s skills around supporting the council’s Data Lake and meeting the growing data management demands.

The post holder will also work closely with the Application Support Team Leader to provide effective advice, compliance and oversight of managed applications across the Council.

The Person

The successful candidate will demonstrate the able to lead and motivate a high performance team.  The ideal candidate will show commitment to delivering excellent services, resolving complex technical issues in a timely manner, flexible in their approach, and have an ability to see the bigger picture. You will possess outstanding people management skills and be able to plan and prioritise effectively.

This role brings a varied range of challenges, so the Database Team Leader needs to be resourceful, resilient, focussed, able to assimilate information quickly and adapt to the changing technological landscape.

The successful candidate will have good interpersonal and communication skills, able to clearly articulate ideas, proposals, options and resolutions to colleagues and stakeholders.
