Salary

Due to current Coronavirus (COVID-19) restrictions we are following Government advice and this may result in interviews being held via video call.

This is an exciting opportunity to lead the Policy, Performance and Intelligence service through an important period following the recent adoption of our new Council Plan 2022-2025 and Year Ahead Delivery Plan.  The following provides a flavour of the key activities that you’ll be driving forward.

Reporting into the Assistant Chief Executive, you will bring forward a fresh approach to service planning and performance management, ensuring that we collectively, proactively and robustly manage and monitor our delivery against the new Council Plan commitments.

You’ll lead the policy unit, developing key strategies and plans for the Council and keeping elected-members and senior officers up to date with national and regional policy changes and translating this into what it means for Rotherham and its residents.  You’ll deliver this through high quality, informative briefings and assessments for the Leader of the Council, Elected-Members and senior officers, joining the dots between different agendas.  You’ll deliver a strong intelligence-led approach, working with colleagues from across the organisation to target areas of greatest need.  You’ll lead the policy team in the Council’s Equalities Review to help us reach ‘Excellent’ under the Equality Framework for Local Government in 2022.

About you

You’ll be working at a senior level at the very heart of the organisation and therefore be highly adept and experienced at forging strong relationships and building trust and consensus, whilst driving improvements forward.

You’ll be an excellent communicator and presenter, able to inspire confidence and enthusiasm.

To arrange a time for a confidential discussion, please contact Liz Athorn PA to Jo Brown, Assistant Chief Executive directly on 01709 255269 or email liz.athorn@rotherham.gov.uk
