We are looking for a strategic leader to join us as an Assistant Director in our Children and Young People Services team, who can meet the challenge through sustainable, innovative and creative ways of working, and who has a clear passion for providing excellent services that support and safeguard children. We have strong and effective partnerships in place, and under your leadership our teams will continue to deliver effective relationships with external stakeholders, partners and agencies, representing the Council and promoting our children’s interests with these groups.

As Assistant Director for Children’s Social Care, you will build on the impressive progress we have made in recent years and drive our Ofsted rated ‘Good’ services to ‘Outstanding’. As the lead for operational safeguarding and social work, you will have strong statutory and legislative knowledge, and your practice ethos will be underpinned by strengths based working and relational practice. Managing a range of discrete services, your contribution to the strategic direction, impact and overall performance of the directorate will be key. With experience of leading a diverse management team, a thorough working knowledge of children’s social care best practice and successful budget and resource manage, you will be able to actively demonstrate delivery of high performing and efficient services.
