Lincolnshire County Council have an excellent Entry Level opportunity available Trainee Operations Technician to work in our Laboratory and Site Testing team. Full training will be given. You will be conducting testing of construction materials both out on-site and in the Laboratory to ensure compliance with specifications and workmanship requirements. This position would suit an individual with a keen interest in science or engineering who enjoys a varied work environment.
About The Role
Lincs Laboratory is a specialist in-house service of the Highways and Transportation Department of Lincolnshire County Council. The laboratory is based at Riseholme on the northern edge of Lincoln and has a varied workload which includes construction materials testing, pavement and geotechnical investigations, highway condition surveys and the capture and analysis of traffic data.
The Laboratory is UKAS accredited to ISO17025 and we are committed to providing an efficient, competitive and high-quality service to the County Council and our other clients which include public and private sector consulting engineers, suppliers and contractors.
No two days are the same – one day you could be out driving around the county conducting on-site tests and retrieving samples from highway sites and then the next day testing them in our purpose-built Laboratory.
We are not a conventional ‘white coat and test tube’ clean laboratory, we are more like an indoor building site! You won’t get too dirty though, as we provide all your work wear.
There will be a requirement to undertake some manual handling of materials with weights up to 25kg.
The role may involve some weekend and night working for which enhanced rates will be paid.
About Our Offer
Full training will be given and you will have the opportunity to obtain a nationally recognised qualification. This is a career grade position and upon successful completion of our structured training and development programme there is scope to progress to the post of Senior Operations Technician at Grade G5 (£21,269 - £23,953).
Our employment package is excellent and benefits include:
- 37 hours basic week + overtime as and when required.
- Excellent pension scheme.
- Training and Development opportunities.
- Free car parking
- Work wear provided
Further details can be found in our rewards and benefits brochure.
