Are you an experienced social worker looking for a rewarding and varied role working with children who are looked after and their families? If you are, we have the perfect opportunity for you in our Child Support and Planning Team.

Our social workers want you to know that “the job is really interesting, varied and sometimes challenging! We work with children and families with a wide and varied range of needs; using social work skills and knowledge to support them”.

North Yorkshire as a county has it all, rich in history and culture, outstanding natural beauty, vibrant cities, market towns, quaint villages, stunning rural and coastal landscape and wide open spaces, also benefitting from excellent road and rail links.

We currently have Social Work opportunities working from Knaresborough Children’s Centre where we also support remote working and flexibility to meet the demands of the role.

Through the pandemic staff have been supported to continue in their vital role navigating the changing national and local changes together. As an experienced Social Worker, forming collaborative partnerships will be key. You will work closely a variety of teams and agencies, including for example, health, education, the police, legal teams and our Leaving Care Team, whilst promoting family networks to support children to achieve their aspirations and emotional wellbeing all within current legislation and the principles of the Children’s Act.

We recognise the importance of the health and wellbeing of our employees, striving to ensure our staff have manageable case workloads and providing them with specialised administrative support, allowing us to deliver a high level of timely services. In addition to this we can also offer a range of benefits including generous leave entitlement, a local government pension scheme, salary sacrifice and employee discount benefits.

To be eligible for this post you will have a professional Social Work Qualification, DipSW or CQSW and you will have current registration with Social Work England. We believe that a positive attitude, a tenacity for learning and developing, and a passion for supporting individuals to achieve their maximum potential are the desired attributes of applicants for this role. If this sounds like you, why not come and make a difference to people’s lives in one of the most beautiful places in the UK.

Company

The County of North Yorkshire is the largest County in England and Wales. Within the county are 598 square miles of the Yorkshire Dales National Park, and 530 square miles of the North York Moors National Park. The county is included in the Yorkshire and Humberside Region.

Whilst the economy of the County has traditionally been dependent on agriculture and tourism, there is a fast growing high technology base and this, together with other forms of light manufacturing industry, is of increasing importance. The County Council has an active policy of economic development and the predominantly rural character of the County is highly attractive to high technology businesses as well as the traditional industries of farming, food production and tourism. The County contains several centres of great historic interest, market towns that invite light industrial development, the modern coalfield area in the South, scenic, lightly populated upland areas and the extensive lowland area in the Vale of York.
