Our Highways team are looking for a proactive individual to join us as an Assistant Traffic Management Technician, covering principally the Allerdale area of the County. This is a great opportunity to join the friendly and hard-working team and get involved in assisting the preparation, design, and processing of traffic orders.

The Traffic Management Assistant Technician role is primarily involved with processing applications for road closures and other temporary restrictions on the highway network.  The role also requires engagement with the applicants, other teams in the Council and stakeholders. The role is largely computer-based, with some site visits required to support projects.

We are looking for an organised and motivated person, with effective written and verbal communication skills.  You will be proactive, have excellent customer service skills and a flexible approach.  The ideal candidate will have experience of working as part of a team, with good knowledge of Microsoft software and confident in the use of IT.

As part of the Traffic Management Team, you will also be involved in the preparation, design and processing of permanent improvements to the highway network, liaising with the public and stakeholders and working with colleagues within the highway service.

The role applies mainly to the Allerdale area and is based at the Lillyhall Highways Depot, Workington, though some home-working is available.

If this sounds like you, then please apply today.
