 Contract: Permanent

Are you a highly motivated individual wishing to progress your career in Social Work? Are you interested in experiencing a different approach to Social Work?

This is an exciting opportunity to expand your experience, develop your career and work alongside experienced individuals who are passionate about providing key Safeguarding services to children and young people across Cumbria.

The Safeguarding Hub, based in Penrith is the central contact point for initial child safety concerns for both the public and professionals. We are a well-supported team and have strong working relationships with many multi-agency partners, allowing us to understand, assess and address the immediate needs for children.

About the role

The role is responsible for carrying out office based safeguarding assessments and working with multi-agency partners, to achieve quality analyses to improve the outcomes for all children and young people referred to Cumbria children’s services.

You would be working in a well-established team, who are experienced and supportive, especially during the challenges of the role. We are looking for a highly motivated individual to progress their career, expand their development, and provide a key contribution, essential to supporting Cumbria County Council's Children services.

Who we are looking for

The ideal candidate will have experience of carrying out assessments to understand the level of safety in a family over a diverse range of cases. The assessments are office based, over the telephone and therefore it is essential that the ideal candidate has exceptional communication skills and the ability to empower families to develop meaningful plans to keep their children safer. Knowledge in the following areas is beneficial but not necessarily required initially, as we do provide on-going training throughout your time with us; CSE, Missing Children's, Domestic Abuse. Experience of Signs of Safety would be valuable to the role as this is the current approach used throughout Cumbria children’s social care.
