The Role

This Highways and Transportation team are looking for a proactive individual to join as a Technical Assistant, working across all the relevant highways teams.  You will be a knowledgeable and enthusiastic professional with proven experience of some or all, of the technical elements and legislation around the development and implementation of Highways schemes.  From inception to completion, you will be involved in a wide variety of traffic and highway related schemes, e.g. Traffic Calming, bus stops, pedestrian crossings, speed limit changes, junction improvements, & traffic signs, maintenance and road marking schemes, including many exciting and transformational major projects.

We are seeking an enthusiastic person with excellent technical and communication skills that understands the need for technical rigour and attention to detail.  You will be part of a hardworking and ambitious team, supported and encouraged to achieve your goals and deliver your best.

This is an excellent opportunity for an individual with excellent technical knowledge, organisational and stakeholder management skills, whom in return will receive excellent local government benefits, a supportive management team, with the opportunity to really shape our highways network, ensuring that we can be an aspirational city for those who live, work and visit here.

Following the UK leaving the EU, the new skilled worker visa points system has been designed for EU and non-EU residents to ensure only workers who can build enough points for a visa to be issued can work in the UK. This vacancy does not meet the points requirement for a skilled worker visa to be issued, nor is it a vacancy on the shortage occupations list therefore anyone applying who does not have the right to work in the UK currently will not be progressed. If you believe this is a mistake, please email recruitment@liverpool.gov.uk

Liverpool City Council is committed to having a workforce that is representative of the communities we serve. We are an Equal Opportunities Employer and believe that the decision to appoint should be based upon whether an individual’s skills, experience, qualifications, and abilities make them the most suitable candidate for the role.

If you require any reasonable adjustments in line with the Equality Act 2010 such as the application form in a different format or additional time to complete your application, please contact the recruitment team via recruitment@liverpool.gov.uk
