Who we are

Our HR Shared Service Team (HRSST) currently have a great opportunity to join them as an HR Adviser (grade I). Our HRSST are part of the HR service at NYCC primarily providing an HR enquiry service via phone and email and HR casework support to all of the four directorates within North Yorkshire County Council plus a number of external customers. The team also undertake a number of other activities including delivering manager skills sessions around key elements of our HR policies and support our HR Business Partner Teams in delivering restructures and service change.

We are a busy front facing team based at County Hall in Northallerton but work in a hybrid way with opportunities to also work from home and/or other council offices as appropriate. The ability to travel across the county to deliver our service when required is however essential.

The role

As HR Adviser (grade I) you will provide support to directorates in relation to HR policies, procedures, terms and conditions. You will support managers to develop their skills through the provision of quality professional advice, support and where appropriate coaching on lower risk staff management issues. You will also hold a number of cases and be responsible for ensuring that timely updates are provided to key stakeholders bringing back key learning points to the team for discussion. Alongside this you will be involved in other work areas such as supporting restructures, delivering manager skills sessions and preparing for LGR and beyond.

What you will bring

An interest in front facing, fast paced and varied HR delivery is essential for this role. . You’ll have a keenness to learn and a positive attitude to contributing to fair and appropriate outcomes for all. You’ll be a great communicator who is able to effectively manage relationships with key stakeholders such as managers, union reps and HRBP’s/HoHR.
