This is an exciting opportunity to work in the Business Intelligence Service of Leicestershire County Council.  We are now recruiting to a Research and Insight Officer post in our busy Business Intelligence Service. 
    
Working as part of a large and innovative Business Intelligence Service, liaising closely with colleagues across the council, you will help provide research and insight support for strategic planning, service delivery, commissioning and performance within the council.   
   
The post will primarily be providing data and data management support to the Children and Families Department and National Supporting Families Payment by Result (PbR) Programme.  We are looking for applicants who can review, sort and cleanse all incoming data, match data together at an individual and household level, remove errors and maintain a central families database as well as having the ability to maintain a detailed understanding of guidelines and definitions for reporting complex data sets.

Experience or expertise in the areas below could be an advantage.

  • Data/information collation, extraction and review from a variety of sources
  • Data matching and data cleansing
  • Working with large and complex datasets
  • Care and concern for the accuracy of information and evidence and attention to detail in working methods
  • Developing, setting up and maintaining and manipulating data and information functions and processes
  • Data extraction, management and reporting software knowledge such as SQL server, Analysis Services, Reporting Services, SSIS or similar systems

We are looking for enthusiastic individuals, educated to degree level, with experience of working in a business intelligence or a performance management environment, and researching specific issues. Experience of assisting in the development of ICT systems that facilitate the production of business intelligence dashboards, databases and warehouses to manage and analyse data would also be an advantage.  
   
Experienced in presenting data and information using a variety of IT packages, you will have excellent IT skills and proven ability to learn new packages as well as knowledge of specialist software that underpins the team’s work areas – particular knowledge of Tableau (or similar visualisation packages) would be an advantage but also others such as SNAP, SPSS, R, and Excel (or equivalent).  
   
Your work will involve preparing high quality analytical reports, dashboards and presentations for a variety of audiences, so you will have good presentation, written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to write concise and meaningful reports and provide an interpretation of research findings.  We are seeking high performing and enthusiastic individuals who can provide analytical support to managers within the Business Intelligence Service and service departments and also lead, manage and deliver multiple small research projects (quantitative and qualitative).
