Do you have a passion for working with communities and want to make a difference?

If you answered yes, then we have the perfect role for you!

We are seeking a Serious Violence Community Coordinator who has the drive and desire to support the development of Community Safety’s community engagement work around violence and vulnerability with a specific focus on areas disproportionately affected by violent crime.

About the Role:

The role will assist in the support and administration of the serious violence community forums in Wandsworth, Richmond, and Kingston. The post holder will work in partnership with a range of agencies and community organisations to build community capacity and support local project development, maximising a co-ordinated multiagency approach. They will also have a passion and good understanding of the difference community-led services can make to communities to assist in the prevention of serious violence.

The Serious Violence Community Coordinator will be a part of the Community Safety Team and work across Wandsworth, Richmond, and Kingston boroughs to organise, attend, and support serious violence community forums, sharing best practice, and expanding the community network across the three areas.

In this role, the post holder will focus on mapping current activity, identifying existing community champions and networks, and supporting community members to develop community-led violence reduction projects. The role will also assist in identifying funding and training opportunities for forum members, and provide the administrative support for meetings, including the creation of agendas, communications to members, and the taking and circulation of minutes.

The post holder will be educated to degree level in a related subject area or equivalent through work experience.  Community Forums take place in the evenings monthly and will require the Serious Violence Community Coordinator to attend. The post holder will be open and responsive to the needs of the community and flexible in how services are delivered and developed to meet the changing needs of communities affected by violence. If you think this is you – we’re waiting to hear from you.

This is a part time role for 21.6 hours per week for the fixed term duration of 12 months. If you are an internal employee, you can apply for this role on a secondment basis. The hours of this post can carry out on a flexible basis either 3 days per week or a combination of full days and morning or afternoons to cover the 21.6 hours providing the business needs are being met. The role will be based in Wandsworth Council when on site but will also allow for flexible working from home. Approximately once a month you maybe required to work in the evening to attend and support community forums.
