An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Housing Solutions Service Complex Hub as an Outreach Officer.

 The Outreach Officer will facilitate clients’ first steps from the streets to accommodation; ensuring a single point of entry and access point for new rough sleepers in the borough.

They will be required to locate and contact individuals who are rough sleeping or at risk of rough sleeping across Sandwell and will be proactive and persistent to understand the individual needs and realistic options of each client.

We are looking for a friendly and approachable person to work with clients with multiple complex support needs including clients that are street homeless. The officer will act as the ‘first point of call’ for individuals and will provide advice and guidance and give an overview Sandwell’s Housing Solutions Complex Hub; taking an open and honest approach when assessing the circumstances of their homelessness and what options are available to the client. Outreach Officers will engage with a wide variety of individuals with complex needs, and will be patient, understanding, honest and open in their approach.

The role involves identifying, reporting on and regularly monitoring ‘hotspot’ areas by travelling across the borough, which will support with the work of the Complex Hub to reduce the number of Rough Sleepers in Sandwell and promptly identify and take action where clients may have returned to the streets.

Requirements:

  • Educated to GCSE level, Grades A to C, must include English language and maths or an equivalent qualification

Hours

37 hours per week flexible working arrangements apply to meet the business needs of the service.
