Embark on a dynamic learning curve with a forward-thinking organisation.

At the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea, we work collaboratively to help our local residents achieve a great quality of life. From housing to healthcare, we collectively strive to adopt the most relevant and cutting-edge approaches to dealing with every person and every situation. But in order to support our community to the best of our abilities, it is essential that our colleagues have developed the right skills and knowledge in order to fulfil their roles. And that's where you come in. Join us as our apprentice, and you will have the chance to develop your expertise in the learning and development arena, ultimately resulting in two qualifications:

  • Level 3 Learning and Development Practitioner Apprenticeship qualification
  • Level 3 CIPD Foundation Certificate in People Practice

The Role:

With plenty of variety in every day, this is a unique opportunity to develop your career with the full support of a friendly and experienced team. Over the course of 24 months (or so) you will combine learning opportunities with hands-on experience. With around 20% of your working hours committed to learning (including attending workshops, online learning, webinars and shadowing), you will spend your remaining time supporting our multidisciplinary colleagues across the council with their learning and development (L&D) needs. Specifically, you can expect to take ownership of Excel spreadsheets and PowerPoint presentations relating to L&D administration, and you will conduct research, send course invitations, manage attendance, analyse training evaluations and run reports. From organising events such as inductions for new starters through to designing and delivering in-person training, virtual training and e-learning, you will be encouraged to develop a broad range of skills. This is a great opportunity to join a department who want to help you make the most of your developing knowledge, so you can feel confident that the team will help you achieve your long-term goals.

About You:

We are an exceptionally busy team, so you will thrive with us if you are capable of balancing multiple projects in a fast-paced environment. With the capacity to work with people across all directorates, you will have great verbal and written communication skills, and you will be keen to learn. Bringing an enthusiastic approach to every challenge, we will expect you to have a keen interest in learning and development, and you will enjoy supporting people. With good IT skills and the ability to use Office 365, you will have the confidence to deliver training and facilitate learning opportunities, and you will have the flexibility to occasionally attend evening events. It is really important that you are a team player who has plenty of initiative, and as you will be encouraged to identify and analyse learning needs, it goes without saying that you will be comfortable working with stakeholders at all levels. On a practical level, you will have GCSEs or equivalent in English and maths, and you will have good problem-solving skills with the ability to come up with better ways of doing things.

In turn, we can offer you a career path, complemented by a competitive benefits package that includes hybrid working, access to a desirable pension scheme, generous annual leave, and sector-leading training opportunities throughout your career.
