The Code of Practice on the English language requirement for public sector workers, Part 7 of the Immigration Act 2016, requires that Councils ensure that all candidates applying for customer facing posts must be assessed in order to establish their fluency in English.

The criteria under special knowledge and experience on the job profile which is shown in this advert, outlines what level of fluency you will be expected to demonstrate.  Therefore, it is essential that you provide examples in your application.

The Specialist Behavioural Services (C.C.S.T/A.C.S.T/Sleep Clinic/Psychological Services) are district-wide services that provide intensive, individual behavioural support packages, to Children/Young people and their families usually in their own home.  The role is to support parents/carers to implement changes in behaviour and lifestyle that improve outcomes for children and young people. Each service has a different criterion.

The behaviours displayed by the young people Specialist Behavioural Services work with are diverse, but may include:-

  • Distress and harm caused to themselves in the form of self-injurious behaviours
  • Physical safety of others placed in serious jeopardy, due to aggressive behaviours
  • Severe destructive behaviours.
  • Sleep Issues
  • Attachment related behaviours.

In addition, the service provides training to colleagues, professionals and parents/carers on a variety of topics which include managing challenging behaviour, autism, sleep etc.

The Specialist Behavioural Service are looking to recruit two Specialist Behaviour and Keyworkers who will be able to work within the remit of the services provided. This is a demanding role and therefore the post requires:-

  • You must have a minimum of three years’ experience working or in a voluntary capacity with children or people with learning disability, who display challenging behaviours.
  • A relevant Level 3 professional qualification related to working with children, young
    people and families and evidence of on-going training and CDP
  • You must be able to demonstrate evidence of a general, broad-based education. Level of literacy to write clear and accurate notes.
  • You must evidence that you have excellent inter personal skill and the ability to relate to a diverse group of services users and professionals.
  • The ability to remain calm but assertive when faced with extreme behaviours.
  • You will be required to work on your own initiative as a substantial part of the role is based out in the community.
  • The post involves lone working and working as a part of a team.
  • Must be able to work out of hours including evenings, weekends, early mornings etc.
  • Must hold a current driving licence unless a disability prevents this.
